"A Beautifully Discordant Metronome" is a multimedia dynamic art piece that publicly exposes my heart rate in visual, poetic and auditory means.

The conception of it happened years ago, but after switching to a new smart watch (Fitbit) that also includes a usable web-accessible API, I was finally able to create the piece.

Everything you see - and hear - on "A Beautifully Discordant Metronome" is rendered based on my heart rate.

As my heart rate rises, the colors get angrier. The animations faster. The music.. More painful. Eventually, as my heart rate edges into dangerous territory, glitches begin to form, creating a visual expression of pain that reflects what I am most likely to be experiencing at that given time.

Of course, I live in pain 24/7; I'm relatively used to it, so my average heart rate tends to stick to the more yellow-side-of-green, only dipping into the actual green territory when I am supremely relaxed.. Or asleep. Usually.

Before all this pain, though?

My heart rate would never get into the red.
