Conceiving the nature of us

Ripped From The Spine Of Us

Our growth in this world is measured in our impact, both in the physical, and the intellectual. We think for ourselves, or others, but rarely both, and our impact is measured throughout life and death.

The conception of this piece came about via a repeated encounter with the object photographed; I used to walk somewhat regularly to a nearby grocery store, and would frequently walk past this piece of wood. As time passed, so did it's decay; I found it fascinating. One day as I was walking home, it had moved out to the sidewalk; I decided that I should finally grab it and photograph it.

I brought it home and wrapped it in the vines that grew on my own porch to complete the visual I had conceived, and photographed it using a lomographic technique in-studio.
